14 Days

In 2 weeks we leave for Germany. To say we are excited is an understatement! Chuck & I have our clothes laid out ... not packed, yet, but ready to go.

And Pat has done such a super job of getting reservations, car and our schedule in order.

Our trip was inspired by my brother, Bernd and his wife, Pat. They had 2 high school exchange students, Clara "K" and Hannah "R with them for 2 weeks who translated our grandfather's (Opa) autobiography from German to English. They wanted to practice their English. I will be eternally grateful to them, not only for the translation, but also for their interest when they got home. They visited Brake & sent pictures of them in front of Opa's former home!

Clara & Hannah kept emailing Pat & Bernd to come and visit and to bring me. That inspired Pat & Bernd to visit Germany in the spring of 2007. They invited us, but we had already made arrangements for an Alaskan trip at the same time and I think it worked out for the best. Bernd & Pat found out more information that we never knew. So in 2007, at age 72, they learned that not only Dad was picked up Kristallnächt, but so were Opa, Mom and me! So we are going in 14 days!
